Damage to green spaces

Description

The green spaces in Berlin TXL play a crucial role in the urban ecosystem. They not only offer a place of retreat for residents, but also reduce summer heat stress, improve air quality and contribute to biodiversity. However, they are susceptible to unauthorised access and regular damage by vehicles, especially in the vicinity of construction sites. Other causes of damaged green spaces can include unauthorised dumping of materials, such as excavated material or construction rubble, or contamination by users. These incidents not only have a negative impact on the environment, but also cause additional costs in terms of tracking and removal.

Effective monitoring can support developers, land managers and authorities in maintaining green spaces, which would also benefit residents. Detailed damage reports enable the precise recording of damaged areas and their extent.

Overall, efficient green space monitoring, e.g. with the help of drone images, not only contributes to the preservation of nature, but is also more cost-efficient than manual inspections.
